How to make your team hate Mondays
If you've ever wondered how to cast a dark cloud over the start of the workweek, I’m here to help. Here are some top-notch (though not recommended) ways to make Mondays the most dreaded day for your team…
1. The Never-Ending Morning Meeting
Start the week with a marathon meeting, preferably unannounced. Make sure you do most of the talking. Who needs agendas or clear objectives? The element of surprise is what counts.
2. Inbox Overload
Over the weekend, overwhelm your team with a flurry of 'urgent' emails that aren't actually that pressing. A flooded inbox is a sure-fire way to kick off the week on a stressful note.
3. Surprise! More Work
Toss in spontaneous tasks with unrealistic deadlines. They can ditch that other thing they’ve been working on for months. It's all about keeping them on their toes – and slightly off-balance.
4. Gloom and Doom
Channel your inner pessimist and be sure to dampen any lingering weekend joy. What could go wrong? Spell it out in detail.
5. The Hovering Boss
Be everywhere, all the time. Micromanage, scrutinise, and question. It's about ensuring they never forget you're watching.
While these methods are guaranteed to create Monday blues, if you value team morale and productivity, perhaps consider a different approach!
Until next week,
Take care of yourself and others,
Madeleine
