3 easy steps to change everything

Does this sound familiar?

  • Trying out a whole lot of new things

  • Getting exhausted and reverting to type

  • Finally, burning out and focusing your wellbeing when it hits crisis point.

How does this sound instead… An easy 3-step plan for change. Here's the catch—it's not really easy, and it's not really 3 steps.

But it is a game-changer if you're serious about evolving without losing yourself in the process.

Step 1: Sleep, eat, move—build your foundations

These aren't just buzzwords; they're the essentials that keep you grounded. Think of it like building a house - you wouldn't start with the roof, right? By prioritising your physical health, you're creating a solid base that supports everything else in your life.

I also include emotional and mental health here. Do the things that nourish you on all levels.

When you’re feeling good, you’re better equipped to handle the demands of growth and change.

Step 2: Stay the same

Wait, what?

This one often raises eyebrows. “Aren’t we supposed to change?” you might ask. Yes, but change without a strong sense of self is like trying to navigate without a map.

This step is about reconnecting with your core—your values, your strengths, the abilities that have brought you this far. It’s about remembering the successes you’ve already achieved.

By staying anchored in who you are, you make it easier to step into the unknown without losing sight of what matters most to you.

I’ve really noticed in my work with clients that step 2 comes as a huge relief, and releases a lot of resistance that might have been there about step 3…

Step 3: Change

Yes, change does mean changing. But you don’t have to throw out your existing self to do it. Real, sustainable change comes from working with what you already have and building upon it. Instead of trying to reinvent the wheel, start by adapting and expanding your current habits, skills, and mindsets.

This approach doesn’t just make change more manageable; it makes it meaningful, even fun. It’s about evolving in a way that feels authentic, rather than forcing yourself into a mould that doesn’t fit.

Take the steps in order.

A lot of people try doing these backwards –

  • Trying out lots of new things

  • Getting exhausted and reverting to type

  • Finally, burning out and focusing on their wellbeing because it’s hit crisis point.

But when you follow this sequence—build your foundations, stay the same, and then change - you set yourself up for success.
